Currently enjoying my fabulous fifties, I came to New Zealand in 1995 after leaving the UK and spending time travelling overseas. I arrived in Nelson and fell in love with the lifestyle, mountains, beaches and climate. I bought my first dog, a black labrador, Tyla. While I’ve never looked back, some things have changed, after 16 or so years in windy Wellington I escaped back to Nelson and expanded my pack to include a husband and two more labradors, Pepper and Teddy.
My study has been extensive and ecletic and I continue to engage in professional development to enhance and extend my skill base. Prior to my counselling career, I specialised in the area of organisational science and my career path includes roles as a management consultant, a tertiary lecturer and educator and I have also coached and mentored individuals. I have also authored and co-authored several articles and book chapters.
I was a fully registered counsellor with NZAC when working full-time but now work part-time only. I am trained in using EMDR therapy including Advanced Training. Prior to moving to part-time work, I was also a full member of EMDNRZ and in 2019 and 2020 I was also an EMDRNZ Board Member.
I find immense passion and joy in supporting others to make your change. Together, my personal and professional experiences enable me to bring openness, compassion, honesty, respect and caring to my counselling practice.
